Best Eats in Puerto Peñasco.. Part 2

Best Eats in Puerto Peñasco.. Part 2

In our previous food blog we covered the restaurants and bars in Rocky Point on the Malecon (Old Port area).  In this one we will cover the places in town and Sandy Beach.  Besides the ones mentioned you can find Taco places all over town so if you are looking for something unique, ask and you will be given another list.
Let’s start in City Central.

Pollo Lucas: This chicken place is right on Benito Juarez and is known for what else but Sonoran style roasted chicken. It is probably been around the longest and is located about 3 blocks north of Calle 13 by the railroad tracks.   Both tourists and locals alike go here and they are open for lunch and at night.  Eat in or take it to your condo or home.

Tacos Pablano’s: The original is located near the Catholic Church on Simon Morua.  They do the tacos on the spit and are both hot in heat as well as flavor, but they will keep you coming back for more.  There are several with the same name but this seems to be the original, so stop on by.  Eat outside or indoors.  Reasonable prices for the quality of the food.

Tacos Brisas: Located in Sinaloa north of Sonora on the left.  They have a variety of things to choose from and all are delicious.  Here you order and they will bring it to your table along with the relish tray and salsas.  Great food at reasonable prices.

Southside jillz rocky point

Southside Jillz:  Located on Calle 13 just before the Peñasco del Sol Hotel. Jill and her staff are very service oriented along with wanting to serve really good food.  She is known for her 2 for Tuesday Specials as well as her Sunday Ribs.  Everything on the menu is good, but these are 2 of what she is known for.  Last year they won 1st Place in the Taste of Peñasco for the ribs and it was the 1st time she had ever entered.  Here you can sit inside or out on the patio and play Horse Shoe or Corn Hole or any other games they have going on.

Max’s: Located across for the Peñasco del Sol Hotel.  here you will find great breakfasts and lunch.  They also have nightly Specials and pizzas. The owners of Max’s also have Bryan’s out on Blvd. Freemont and the Sonoran Grill at the Sonoran Spa.  Both also feature weekly specials.

Frenchys-Bar-Grill

Frenchy’s: They are relatively new having opened just a couple of years ago.  Sport bar atmosphere along with some hints of food from Canada.  They are open all day and almost every day.  Want to watch a sports game, they have enough TV’s for you to not miss anything.  They are located on Plutarco Elias Calle and the intersection heading to Sandy Beach.  Look for the Canadian flags flying on the right.

Puesta del Sol: They are located in the Playa Bonita Hotel and feature a really good Sunday Brunch Buffett.  The restaurant and bar have been around for a long time and many of the servers have been with them since they opened 30 years ago. Food is Mexican fare as well as fresh fish and shrimp.  They have a nightly Happy Hour with music by Rigo (who has also played there forever).  Here you can enjoy cocktails and dinner right on the beach and take in the Rocky Point sunsets.  They have the facilities for weddings or large parties as well as do catering. Credit cards accepted.

Great views, great food and great service.

Sonoran Grill at the Sonoran Spa offers nightly specials and is only open late afternoon into the evening.  They have the only fresh pizza on Sandy Beach.  Nightly specials are Monday (Surf and Turf Kebabs), Thursday (Gourmet Burgers) Friday (Rib Dinner), Saturday (Prime Rib Dinner) and Sunday (Chicken, Steak or Shrimp Fajitas).
